Nominate them for the Greater Clark Alumni of the Year Award! One alum from each GCCS high school will be honored at the Greater Clark Education Foundation’s annual Champions for Children gala in the Spring. Academies

Freshmen Academy students attended Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana’s Inspire to Hire Career Fair. Leading up to the event, students prepared in their Freshmen Seminar class by exploring career interests and practicing elevator pitches. At the fair, they connected with employers from industries such as engineering, healthcare, business, public safety, and skilled trades through interactive exhibits and hands-on activities. The experience helped students link classroom learning to real-world opportunities and furthered Greater Clark’s mission to prepare every student for college, career, and life success.

Free/Reduced Lunch Applications

All families are encouraged to complete the Free and Reduced Meal Application – even if you’ve submitted one in previous years.

Filling out this form helps ensure your child receives essential meal benefits and also provides important funding and resources that directly support our schools.

If your household’s financial situation changes at any point during the school year, you are welcome to submit a new application.

Staff & Student Spotlights

Charlestown Cheer Makes School History at ICC State

Charlestown Cheerleading delivered an extraordinary performance at this year’s ICC State competition, led by a landmark achievement from Megan Workman, who was named the 2025 Indiana Cheerleader of the Year. This prestigious honor, comparable to being named Miss Basketball for the state, is a first in school history and a tremendous source of pride for the entire community.

The success continued with the Timeout Team earning a Top 3 placement for the first time ever, competing against the largest schools in Indiana. Their energy electrified the arena and set the tone for an unforgettable evening.

The All-Girl Stunt Group also shone, delivering their strongest routine of the season and earning the bronze medal with an impressive and confident performance.

Capping off the night, the traditional team competed as coed for the first time in nine years and brought home the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. Their hard work, dedication, and innovation elevated the program to new heights and earned them the top honor.

Huge congratulations to Charlestown Cheerleading and Indiana’s 2025 Cheerleader of the Year, Megan Workman!

Jeff High Cheerleader has a Top 5 Finish as Indiana All-State Cheerleader

We’re excited to celebrate the success of Bella Morrison-Bland from Jeffersonville High School, who secured a Top 5 spot in the Indiana All-State Cheerleading team. This impressive accomplishment highlights her talent, dedication, and leadership, and we couldn’t be prouder of her!

Please join us in congratulating Bella on this remarkable milestone. We look forward to seeing where her cheerleading journey takes her next!

Jeff High Air Force JROTC Celebrating Greater Clark Veterans

The Jeffersonville High School AFJROTC program demonstrated exceptional dedication and service throughout Veterans Day week. Cadets presented the Colors at several school celebrations, as well as at Bridgepoint Gardens and Golden Corral for their community Veterans Day events. They also supported Golden Corral’s “Salute to Veterans Meal” and were recognized by the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) with an award honoring more than 20 years of service during the annual Veterans Day program.

In addition to these events, cadets participated in a Flag Retirement Ceremony at American Legion Post 35, completed a 9-mile Veterans Day Memorial Hike, and competed in a Drill Competition – contributing more than 250 hours of community service in just five days.

We extend our appreciation to all of our schools for hosting meaningful celebrations in honor of our local Veterans and for giving our students opportunities to serve and learn through these important traditions.

CHS Football Coach Video

Charlestown High School wrapped up an exciting football season under the leadership of new head coach and Charlestown alumnus, Aaron Daniel. His return to the program brought renewed energy, a strong sense of tradition, and a commitment to building a positive culture on and off the field.

Coach Daniel shared that stepping back onto the sidelines at his alma mater was both meaningful and motivating, offering a chance to reconnect with the community and guide the next generation of Pirates. This season marked a significant step forward as the team focused on growth, resilience, and setting a foundation for the years ahead.

Charlestown is looking forward to carrying this momentum into next season as the program continues to strengthen its culture, develop its athletes, and build pride throughout the Pirate community.

Inclement Weather Policy

As we enter the winter season, Greater Clark County Schools would like to remind families of our Inclement Weather Policy and the steps we take when extreme weather affects school operations.

The district begins evaluating potential delays or closures when the wind chill reaches -10° or when road conditions present safety concerns. Depending on conditions, one of the plans outlined below will be implemented.

Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our students safe.
Communication regarding delays or closures will be shared as follows:
  • School Messenger notifications will be sent by 5:30 a.m. to staff and 6:00 a.m. to parents/guardians.
  • If a delay is issued and weather conditions worsen, a closure announcement will be made by 7:30 a.m.
  • Updates will also be available on the district website and social media platforms.
  • To keep emergency lines open, we ask that families do not call school offices for weather updates.
Plan 1: Two-Hour Delay
  • School will begin two hours later than the regular start time.
  • Buses will operate two hours later on their normal schedules.
  • Afternoon dismissal will remain unchanged.
  • Morning preschool sessions will be canceled.
Plan 2: Schools Closed – eLearning Day
  • All schools will be closed for the day, and students will participate in an eLearning Day.
  • No make-up day will be added.
  • Schools will reopen the next scheduled day unless additional closures are necessary.
In cases of hazardous road conditions, bus drivers, after approval from the Director of Transportation, may determine that a portion of a route cannot be safely traveled. If this occurs:
  • Affected families will be notified.
  • Attendance will be recorded with an excused notation due to lack of transportation.
  • Students maintaining perfect attendance will remain eligible for recognition.
Please be prepared for potential delays and allow children extra time to wait for their bus during winter weather.

Parkwood Construction Update

In April 2024, we officially broke ground on the new Parkwood Elementary building, an exciting step toward a modern learning environment designed to support students for generations to come. This new facility will offer updated classrooms, enhanced safety features, collaborative learning spaces, and improved resources for both students and staff.

We’re pleased to share our latest construction update video, which provides an inside look at the progress and what this new school will mean for our district and community. We look forward to opening the doors in August 2026 and welcoming our students into a space built for their success.
