Calendar Reminder

As we head into the final stretch of the school year, we want to remind you, there will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, May 2nd in observance of Oaks Day. 

Additionally, due to inclement weather make-up days, please note the following calendar changes:

  • Tuesday, May 6th will be a regular in-person school day (snow makeup day).
  • The last day of school has been moved to Thursday, May 22.

GCCS Elementary Art Show Few Days Left!

There’s still time to experience the creativity of our talented elementary students at the Greater Clark Elementary Art Show, on display now through April 19 at the NoCo Arts Center.

Remaining Viewing Hours:

  • Thursday, April 17 | 2:00–6:00 PM
  • Friday, April 18 | 2:00–6:00 PM
  • Saturday, April 19 | 1:00–4:00 PM
 
NoCo Arts Center is located at: 700 Michigan Ave, Jeffersonville, IN 47130 
 

If you’re unable to attend during these hours, don’t worry—student artwork will be featured on digital gallery screens throughout the NoCo Arts & Cultural District for the entire month of May. You’ll still have a chance to enjoy and celebrate their incredible work!

On My Way PreK Nights

Attention Families Applying for On My Way Pre-K Financial Assistance On My Way Pre-K Document Nights are just around the corner, and we want to ensure you have everything you need to complete your application. These events are specifically for families applying for the On My Way Pre-K financial assistance program.

Upcoming Document Night Dates:

  • April 17 – Pleasant Ridge Elementary | 4:00–6:30 PM
  • April 24 – Northaven Elementary | 4:00–6:30 PM
  • April 30 – Parkwood Elementary | 4:00–6:30 PM
Additional dates and times may be added at a later date, they will be announced via social media. 

 

What to Bring:

  • Proof of ID for applicant/co-applicant (government-issued ID, school ID, etc.)
  • Proof of ID for all children in the household (birth certificate, hospital certificate, etc.)
  • Proof of residency (driver’s license, lease, utility bill, etc.)
  • Proof of service needed (recent pay stub, school schedule, SSI/SSDI documentation, etc.)

Parkwood Inclusion Fair is Back!

Greater Clark County Schools is proud to host the 3rd Annual Inclusion Fair on, April 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Parkwood Elementary.
 
This free event is open to the public and celebrates neurodiversity while supporting families with autistic children. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with local vendors, organizations, and businesses that embrace neuro-affirming principles.
 
Enjoy a fun and welcoming evening filled with games, prizes, food trucks, and community connections—all in support of inclusion and understanding.

Pleasant Ridge Elementary Farewell Fiesta

Join us as we celebrate the many memories made at Pleasant Ridge Elementary with a special Farewell Fiesta on May 5, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.

Enjoy chips, dips, and drinks while reminiscing with friends, families, and staff. Class photo collages will be available through a silent auction, and other meaningful mementos will be offered for purchase.

This is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, reflect, and celebrate the beginning of a new chapter together. While we say farewell to Pleasant Ridge, we’re also looking ahead with excitement to the future of the Charlestown community at the new Charlestown Elementary this fall. We can’t wait to make new memories together.

Jeff High Player named Arthur L. Trester Mental Attitude Award Recipient for IHSAA Class 4A Boys Basketball

Congratulations to Shawn Boyd, a senior at Jeffersonville High School, on being named the 2025 Arthur L. Trester Mental Attitude Award recipient for Class 4A Boys Basketball—one of the IHSAA’s most prestigious honors.

A standout both on and off the court, Shawn has demonstrated exceptional leadership as captain of the Red Devils Basketball team, helping guide the team to two sectional championships, two regional titles, a semi-state championship, and ultimately, a state title. Beyond athletics, he is actively involved in student life, including serving as a member of the WJHI student sports broadcast crew.

Shawn is set to attend Hanover College this fall and becomes only the second Jeffersonville player in school history to receive this honor, joining Mark Inman from the 1972 state finalist team.

Principal Pam Hall shared:
“Shawn Boyd perfectly embodies the spirit of a student-athlete at Jeffersonville High School. His outstanding academic record, exemplary citizenship, and well-rounded character made him an ideal candidate for recognition. While Jeffersonville High School already knew Shawn deserved the Trester Mental Attitude Award, we are thrilled to see the State of Indiana acknowledge the fine young man he is and how well he represents our school.”

Athletic Director Larry Owens added:
“Shawn Boyd is everything you want in a student-athlete. He is a high-achieving student, excels on the court, is a great teammate, and is highly respected in our community. He showed tremendous mental toughness during an injury that sidelined him his junior year, and his attitude and leadership through that setback were exemplary. Shawn will be successful in anything he chooses because of the person he is and the man he is becoming. I can think of no one more deserving of the Trester Mental Attitude Award.”

Jeff High Assistant AD Receives IHSAA Champion Educator Award

Congratulations to Mr. Jeff Wigginton, longtime teacher and Assistant Athletic Director at Jeffersonville High School, on being named the 2025 IHSAA Education Champion Award recipient for the 4A Division.

Nominated by Jeffersonville’s state champion athletes and colleagues, Mr. Wigginton was recognized for his deep commitment to student success—both in and out of the classroom. His passion for education, servant leadership, and personal investment in students’ futures exemplify what it means to be a champion educator.

 
About the Award
The IHSAA Education Champion Award honors educators who make a lasting impact on the lives of student-athletes. Recipients are known for fostering meaningful connections and prioritizing the overall growth and success of their students.

Principal Pam Hall shared:
“The IHSAA Champion Educator award given to Mr. Wigginton holds special significance as it provides a platform for high-achieving athletes to recognize a teacher who shaped their high school journey. The players overwhelmingly praised Mr. Wigginton, noting his passion for math and his deep care for them as people, not just basketball players or students. They valued his interest in their futures and personal pursuits beyond the classroom and court. It’s a remarkable honor for Mr. Wigginton to be chosen by our state champions.”

Athletic Director Larry Owens added:
“Jeff Wigginton simply put is a Champion Educator. Everything he does here at Jeffersonville High School revolves around servant leadership for our students and for our student-athletes. He has a passion for teaching young people and he certainly excels at it. He is so very deserving of this award. Great job, Wig!”

Jeffersonville High School Boys Basketball Wins 4A State Championship

Congratulations to the Jeffersonville High School Boys Basketball Team for an unforgettable victory in the Class 4A State Championship! In an overtime thriller, the Red Devils defeated Fishers 67–66, capturing the school’s first state title since 1993—a championship that was also won by their very own coach and his team three decades ago.

This win was a true testament to the team’s heart, resilience, and teamwork. Every player poured their passion into the game, and their perseverance shined through until the final buzzer.

We’d like to extend a big thank you to the students, families, and community members who filled the arena, cheered from home, and welcomed the team back as hometown heroes. Your support helped make this a truly memorable moment in Jeffersonville High School history.

Charlestown High School Athletic Director named IHSAA Athletic Director of the Year

Please join us in congratulating Chad Gilbert, Athletic Director at Charlestown High School, on being named the IHSAA Athletic Director of the Year.

The Academies Section

Over the past year, juniors and seniors have been participating in Career Discovery Meetings. These personalized conversations further guide students to explore interests & future careers, identify potential pathways & opportunities, and develop post-secondary plans. This proactive approach aims to increase intentionality behind their post-secondary plans, reduce career and/or course of study changes, and foster workforce development by empowering students to make informed decisions about their futures. Since these meetings can be hosted by employers, labor organizations, colleges, and the branches of the armed services, students have the opportunity to have this meeting with the hosts who best align to their career aspirations.

2025-2026 Student Registration Opens March 24th!

Attention GCCS Parents & Guardians!

Mark your calendars – registration for the 2025-2026 school year opens on Monday, March 24, 2025!

Families of current preschool through eleventh-grade students will receive Snapcode letters before March 24th, so please keep an eye on your mailbox for this important information. Your Snapcode will be required to complete the registration process. Should you have any problems with your snapcode, we are asking families to please contact: Carolyn Barton (cbarton@gccschools.com) for Elementary and Wendy Gallagher (wgallagher@gccschools.com) for Secondary.

Preschool Enrollment Coming Soon!

Incoming preschool families – mark your calendars! Enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year begins on April 1st at 9 AM.

 
Who Can Enroll?

Children who will be 4 years old by August 1, 2025 are eligible for our preschool program. Designed to support the whole child, our curriculum focuses on early development and ensuring kindergarten readiness.

 
Program Options & Tuition
  • Full-Day Program: $150 per week
  • Half-Day Program: $75 per full week
  • Transportation available
 
Financial Assistance

Families may qualify for a 100% tuition voucher through On My Way Pre-K (OMWPK), an Indiana state-funded program providing access to high-quality preschool for low-income families. Reduced tuition options are also available.

Calendar Reminder - Spring Break, School Graduations

Happy Spring Break, Greater Clark families! Schools will be closed from March 17-21 as we take a well-deserved break.

As a reminder, adjustments have been made to the 2024-2025 school calendar:

  • May 6th will now be a makeup day due to snow days in January. School will be in session, and there will be no e-learning on this day.
  • The last day of school has been moved to May 22th.

Join us in celebrating the W.E. Wilson Wildcats’ victory in the Greater Clark County Schools Elementary Boys Basketball Championship! Their hard work, determination, and teamwork led them to an exciting win.

We also want to recognize all the teams for their outstanding sportsmanship, athleticism, and dedication throughout the season. You made your schools proud, and put in great effort this season!

Jeff High's Poptastic Popcorn Has Officially Launched!

Jeffersonville High School’s Applied Career Class has partnered with Poppin’ Flavors Gourmet Popcorn to launch its own student-created brand – JHS Poptastic Popcorn. This exciting initiative provides students with hands-on experience in marketing, sales, packaging, inventory management, and business operations.

Students are actively involved in every aspect of the brand’s development, from production to promotion. The logo was designed by Pedro Espinales as part of his Marketing Class project, and students will continue refining their entrepreneurial skills by conducting surveys, creating a “Popcorn of the Month” special, and even developing a Jeff High exclusive popcorn mix.

All proceeds from JHS Poptastic Popcorn will directly benefit the class by funding classroom supplies, field trips, and additional learning opportunities.

This initiative would not be possible without the support of Principal Pam Hall, Teacher Donna Vanhook, and Job Coach Lisa Sanders, along with the collaboration of Poppin’ Flavors Gourmet Popcorn. Their guidance has helped transform this project into a valuable real-world learning experience that equips students with essential business and career skills.

A special thank you to the Jeffersonville Mayor and Jeff High alumni for joining us at our ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebrating our incredible students with us.

Parkwood Dual Language Immersion Informational Sessions!

Honoring the Legacy of Our Schools as We Look to the Future

As we enter the final quarter of the 2024-2025 school year, we also begin the bittersweet process of bidding farewell to several long-standing schools that have been home to generations of students.
We invite our school community to join us for special farewell events as we honor the legacy of Pleasant Ridge Elementary, W.E. Wilson Elementary, and Thomas Jefferson Elementary. These schools have played an integral role in shaping the lives of countless students, and we look forward to celebrating their rich history together.

As we eagerly anticipate the next chapter with the openings of Charlestown Elementary and Pike Elementary, we also recognize the significance of honoring the memories created within these beloved halls. As we prepare for this transition, students, families, and staff will have the opportunity to walk through their schools one last time, cherishing the moments and milestones that have defined their educational journeys.

The Academies Section

Upperclassmen from all career academies attended a college and career fair, where they connected with local employers, regional universities & technical schools, workforce training providers, and branches of the armed services. Over 80 different organizations—representing all of the career-themed academies—engaged with students to explore how they could best support their future aspirations. Students valued the opportunity to ask specific questions, have direct interactions, and gather resources that helped prepare them to take their next steps. The organizations in attendance appreciated the chance to showcase their offerings, build relationships with students, and promote their brand. This mutually beneficial experience continues to grow every year and remains as one of the favorite academy-related events for students. Several of the photos below were taken by our talented photographers in the Digital Design pathway.
